Great photos on this journal Akaant of a very nice looking species. If you think your colony is choosy over what it eats, my small colony of Campo ligniperda never seem to eat anything and it amazes me how they are still alive.

Thanks. My first few workers were born below average size do to lack of food. This batch should be huge and healthy. It seems that young colonies are super picky but as they grow huge they become less picky.

The photos posted today of the Americanus show this species to be an amazing colour, and your colony seems to be doing well.

The larvae are growing exponentially. The workers seem to behave oddly towards some of the larvae by cleaning them excessively or nipping them. The queen started laying eggs some time between (4/28-5/3) with 12-16 eggs so far. One death accrued so far probably due to natural causes.

The C chromaides colony has 100's of larvae and pupae and a small batch of eggs (100ish)! I find it odd that the C americanus brood was more developed and fell behind in the larvae stages. I changed the foraging area in to a large fish tank connected by a long clear tube so the ants will not be clustered anymore and the flooring allows them to grip to the ground better. The next few weeks will be exciting to watch all the new workers hatching.

Most of the pupae are workers now and the remaining pupae are media/majors. The next batch are eggs and early stage larvae. I assume the queen is still laying eggs. The colony exceeds 1000 workers easily. I'm still unsure whether or not colony will officially mature.

Well I'm still from the video Brilliant Akaant, how often do you feed that little lot? You must have your hands full, you always do so well with them, good to see you around the forum again too

I feed them 2-5 crickets every 2-3 days. Heavier feeding when they have many larvae. Caring for the colony has gotten easier as the colony grew larger. I been busy the last few months and can only hop into the forums every so often.

You have an amazingly large colony looking at your latest pics and video. Do you ever cover the set up to make it dark, as they seem very calm in the light? I can see my C. nicobarensis colony will need a much bigger home if they ever get to the numbers you have in your video
