Anyone know how to stop a young Yorkie from chasing squirrels in the park and continuing his walkies?! I was stuck in the park for nearly over an hour the other day, as I could not get him back on the lead. He usually has good re-call, but squirrels are like a drug too him! Now I bring him to said park on the lead and all the other dogs get to run around, except him! I know Yorkies are bred to catch small furry things and it is instinct kicking in...

Katy and Bess (2 in signature) chase squirrels, seagulls (which we have a lot of) and pigeons. It's in their nature to chase though being Royal hunting dogs. They try it with kids on bikes to, but I have at least stopped them wanting to chase cars It's the barking at other dogs and people, if Katy does it for long enough, she honks like a seal Ours go out on Roller leads, I never let them off, I couldn't trust them not to run off, as I know you wouldn't see them for dust. Katy (Blenheim) is being neutered on Tuesday, so that will stop her gallop for a bit.

He's bigger than I imagined yorkies to be My 3 were standing up to a Pyronese mountain dog the other day they have 2 and live just down the road. It was frightned of all the noise mine were making, yet the size of it, it could eat them for breakfast The owner told me to get a couple of big dogs as they are easier to handle than the little uns.
