Not sure if this is the right place. Please move if needed.
Hi I am having a problem of my L.Niger escaping I normally used Petroleum jelly but recently they have decided this will not stop their jail break. I then used fry light cooking oil, and it worked but now a week later they are over the barrier. Can anyone give know of something I could use that is long lasting, because of my increased hours in my job I am spending about 4-5 days at a time unable to attend to them and re apply the oil and by then they are out.
Cheers.

PTFE works well, I applied this to my foraging area when I has my myrmica colony.

I have used PTFE on all my out worlds and will swear by the stuff Buy a sponge paint brush(arts and craft shop) and spray the sponge and apply a good amount to the sides,Turn the thing upside down to dry to stop it running down the sides and hay presto

I get a few myself with my Lasius niger colony. Check to see where they go in and out of the set up and use PTFE. Make sure you have a good seal on your lids too.
