She arrived with my other colony, she has no workers as yet,but she has a big pile of eggs/brood. She is a bit smaller than other Queens of her species I have seen, but she seems healthy which is the important thing. She is in her test tube wrapped in tin foil in a drawer where hopefully she will feel comfortable,I'll offer her some honey water tomorrow morning.

I checked on my Queen today she still hasn't got a worker yet,but she has laid five eggs,so that's five eggs,1 larvae and two cocoons,so I'm glad she seems settled in her test tube.

I put in half a cricket in the test tube just in case, the problem now is she has dragged it to where her eggs/brood is so I'll have more problems trying to remove it when it has a possibility of going moldy,I can only think she did this possibly because she has larvae which are feeding off it.

This Queen still has no workers and I've now got my suspitions that this is an infertile Queen, shame really,I'll try buying a Queen from a different ant site and see what happens, obviously I will not be keeping both Queens together.

What happened to the cocoons? If she's infertile only males will appear.

The cocoons disappeared, still no workers and no way that any workers could have escaped either.

I have just spotted movement in her test tube, this was a very small light colored worker, and as shy as the queen is and I'm happy that one of other queens have a colony,be it a tiny colony, that just leaves my carpenter and Messor Queen without workers.

The worker died shortly after my last post and yesterday I found the queen dead,so this is the end of my Lasius niger Queen.
