Here's my favourite pet spider eating a baby chicken (defrosted, not live!!). She supplements this diet with locusts, cockroaches & mice (also defrosted). www.thebts.co.uk/gallery_images/eating1.jpgI used to have hundreds of tarantulas (I bred them for several years) but have cut the number down to just 4 of my favourites now.

That spider is gorgeous, and looks massive. I love spiders, but it is the care of them I would be concerned about. Just seeing that chicken being devoured would put me off keeping one A great photo, keep them coming I like the red kneed Tarantulas also........ I like snakes too, but I only have kept a small garter snake. It bit me, and then it died a week later, I have never lived it down in this house since

What a beautiful creature. I am surprised though that the tarantula can eat a whole dead baby chick. How often do you feed her?

I am surprised though that the tarantula can eat a whole dead baby chick. How often do you feed her? She has a baby chick once every few months (and I give her one before mating so that she has no appetite for male tarantulas ;D). It usually lasts her for several days and there is a somewhat unpleasant looking mess of skin & bone left over when she's finished . Her staple diet is locusts.
