Hi, I've already added a thread before in the pictures section showing my Messor barbarus colony. However I thought I'd add a recent video here instead. It shows the brood and goes around the set up. I couldn't see the queen so she must of been hiding somewhere when I was filming (shy thing). She's back in the nest now where she normally is in a chamber that I keep covered with a red sheet. Next time I'll get her on film as well. During the day when the heat mat and light are on they normally take the brood out and place them on the sand that's covering the heat mat and stand guard over them. I've also added a large piece of bark/branch into the set up. I sometimes place the seeds on top of this and watch them go back and forth etc. James

Did you make this Ytong set up yourself James? It is really nice the way the ants can forage, and leave or return to the nest with your being able to follow them with your camcorder. It certainly allows the ants to behave naturally with their foraging habits in this cool set up
