Hi there! my new formica lemani queen has laid four eggs! I have now got 14 eggs and I hope she will lay some more. They have moved all their pupae down to the middle of the tube but they are constantly moving the eggs. There has been no fighting whatsoever, and I can tell the difference between them as the newest one is bigger.

Formicalemani, you cannot force other members to post on your thread if they have nothing to add. It clearly states in the forum rules that nobody is required to answer a thread unless they wish to. Please do not ask other members to post, as it is their prerogative to choose whether to do so or not

and will you please start posting in my threads! Statements like the one you made above will not get your posts answered. Like Wood has mentioned, members will only answer as and when they can, not because somebody is getting angry! Time and patience is needed, when keeping colonies. You cannot put an exact time scale on brood development. As this thread has now changed into a journal it has been moved. queenant.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=learning&action=display&thread=1674

Big news Guys!! My first workers appeared today. This morning when I was checking them I found 2 really grey, wrinkly cocoons and I thought there might have been a mite infestation or something. But When I got home there were two workers alive and well in the tube. All the other cocoons are wrinkly and in the first batch there will be 10 workers. The queens also laid a batch of 16-17 eggs a couple of days ago. My colony is doing really well. I gave them some apple and they abosuletly loved it!! I would like to thank all you guys who gave me advice as it has really helped me throughout my keeping of formica lemani. I would like to point out that on ebay there is a formica lemani colony with 5 queens and 20-30 workers on ebay for £30.00
