Hi All I can see there are young queens, why are there not any males? There were a few males on the bottom picture, but a lot of nests produce queens only, while other nests only produce males. Males also fly before the females, so the sky was already full of males waiting to mate with the females, who did fly later on in the day than their male consorts

oh my lord....... the shear beauty of those pictures. Lasius Niger are definitely one of the most beautiful ants when it comes to alates. Their black color is just gorgeous. I love how with that lighting, the alates are almost "blue-black". brilliant pics. I can't wait to have my first Lasius Niger colony. Take it easy, and God Bless. Later Days....... =P
