Hi my girls are doing well, here are another couple photos, they seemed to of uploaded on their side, don't know why, I think I may have 2 naked pupae, if you look to the bottom left of the brood you can just make them out. Sent from my GT-I8150 using proboards Attachments:

Nice clean and healthy brood with lots of eggs in the chamber. Your colony looks set to have a good population growth this year.

Well have found out why I had ants living in the foraging pot, the soil was beginning to dry out, I watered it yesterday and they have gone back over night, I should of realised this as I have read of this often in other peoples journals, am away for the week from tomorrow, so will have to leave my girls to fend for themselves, but they are well fed and it shouldnt cause any harm, but will move them away from the window incase we get a heat wave, chance would be a fine thing !!!!

Well back from my week away, all seems well, hard to tell if any cocoons have hatched as there were too many for me to count, but there are a huge amount of eggs, have given them some honey water and food, so hopefully see some activity, once they discover it

Whoop whoop, seen my first callow ant this morning, she must of eclosed yesterday or late last night, as she is beginning to change colour, tried to get a photo, but in true ant fashion by the time I had my camera sorted she had vanished, and as I was looking for her I turned the farm around and found a second brood pile, better get hunting some fresh food for them.

Congrats! And do I see a bare pupa in a few of the photos? Looks like your colony is doing well, it's always nice to see a big brood pile and the first steps of a callow worker.

Thanks timenova, thats just the one brood chamber as I discovered today, the other one is more difficult to see, and yes I had 2 bare pupea but think todays callow maybe one of them, as I only see one now, but of cause maybe in the other chamber.

Hi jonzii, I got my colony last year around this time ish, but they stayed ontop till they came out of hibernation and have only dug these chambers since, really not sure what size it is now , but I donot think there can be much more than 20 workers if that, but am looking forward to my first population explosion this year.

Yeah me too! Sounds like ours are similar size colonies , be interesting to see how they both develop over the next few months.

Actually have just read my first journal entry and I only got the colony in August, at that time just the queen and about 6 workers, it feels like I have had them for much longer !!!!

A couple of photos of my brood piles, I would not even begin to estimate how many eggs there are, the pic with cocoons shows an egg pile and the other the remaining eggs. Sent from my GT-I8150 using proboards Attachments:
