Sorry about the lack of updates. I definitely saw a worker in one of the tunnels a while ago, but activity seems to have died down in this colony. It must be the season, so hopefully things will perk up a bit in the months to come.

Five workers came out quite rapidly to feed earlier, although I still can't see the queen or any of the brood, if indeed there is any present. The soil was also in need of some more moisture, so I sprayed it a bit. A few of the workers that came out seem to be a different size from the ones I remember, so it makes me wonder if these ones were born recently.

The workers still come out every time I open the lid, up to four at a time. Honey is taken but insects are not, or any other kind of food. I have no idea of how this colony is progressing having not seen the queen and brood since putting them in, and short of digging them up, I don't think I'll find out anytime soon. I'd welcome any suggestions on what I should do at this point.

It is possible that they are still too cold to want insects, so keep up with the honey water and perhaps try some other bits, like cake or tiny morsels of cooked meat.

I've just dug into the soil a little, and came across the queen, six workers and about five tiny larvae. I've lowered the depth of the soil a bit to make it easier to observe them in future, and gave them some honey- which even the queen accepted (Possibly because she is semi-claustral, she is a bit bolder in this kind of situation?). I'm going to try and keep a closer eye on this colony, and see if I can't help them to make some progress.
At least they're alive!
