Still no sighting, I have been checking the tunnels at various times throughout the day and night but nothing. I do remember reading in another thread about a queen that went claustral about the same time as mine and wood had mentioned it could be July till that member saw any workers, so am going along with that, unless I see anything before.

Just happened to walk passed the nest and something caught my eye, my first forager (silly dance of joy)!!!!!!! Was sooo happy then I seen another, and oh my lord They are big, I would say at least 4 times the size of my nigers, not sure if this is because the queen has been able to feed them protein!!!! But will be a bit afraid if they get bigger;) , will be watching all night for more movement.

I have 1 forager that seems to come out at the same time each day, normally late afternoon when the sun has hit the room where they are kept, I have seen her taking honey water, and a medium sized fly which I thought dead, but seen roaming around the surface has vanished, and I also found a piece of roast pork sticking out of the nest entrance, so they are definately feeding, I have been placing honey water and food directly into the nest and will until there are more foragers, at which point I will use the foraging tank, I have also noticed that my lem worker is not at all skittish when I am near, just gets on with what its doing, where as my nigers still tend to run for cover when I am close.

I hadn't seen any foraging for a few days, but was sure this was because the fly that I put in was taken into the nest. I did see my forager yesterday however and she was having a drink of honeywater, after which she checked out the tank, briefly returning to the nest where I saw another ant. Having had my other colony since it was very small, I now realise that until there are more ants in the nest I am going to see very little foraging, maybe by the end of summer there will be more activety, but for now I am content to see there is still live.

Not much to report, I havent seen any foraging since my last post, I have stopped placing food etc direct into the nest, in a vain hope that they will find the foraging pot, but find myself worrying that they will not go looking that far and will end up starving, not too sure what to do, I find the pot easier to keep clean and free of mould, if anyone has any views on what they feel would be the better option, please feel free to comment.

Not much to report, havent seen any foraging for a while, I am either missing it, or they have plenty food in the nest chamber, I also dampened the farm a few days ago, so they maybe getting enough to drink from the earth.

My forager was out tonight and I spent an hour watching her make numerous trips to the honeywater, but never seen it take any food, I am hopeing that this is because any brood in the nest are cocoons, and that there are not much larvae needing fed, or maybe she didnt like the ham (my nigers are taking it well) I have put some tubifex worm in, just incase, I had thought come summer I would have no problems getting spiders and flies, and although they are about I am having problems catching them.

Well it would seem my lems do not like ham !!! But do like tubifex worms, seen my forager at it tonight, it totally ignored the ham, but a least I know they are getting protein now

There seems to be a bit more foraging at the moment, having taken the tubifex worm a couple of days ago, I put a spider in not really expecting it to be taken, but it also has been taken into the nest, hopefully this means there are a few larvae in the nest being fed, just wish I could see them

A large spider went to this tiny colony this evening, only an odd sighting of my lone forager, but as long as I get that, then I take it as a good sign of live inside the nest.

Have not seen any foraging going on lately and all food is removed untouch from what I can tell, I am hoping this means that there are only cocoons and/or eggs in the colony at the moment, but guess I will just have to wait and see.

Checking on this colony tonight, I discovered the tube to the foraging pot has become disconnected !!!! I am sure it was connected last time I looked and am hoping that my lone forager has not gone wandering and gotten lost, as mentioned in my last post, I havent seen any foraging lately and hope against hope that this is still the case and the disconnected tube has not been discovered

Well the queen in this colony went to ground in April and I have not seen her since, at the end of May I seen 2 foragers but that was the only time I have ever seen 2, I only every see 1 now and that is infrequent and even more so lately and she doesnt seem to be taking food, so I donot know what to make of this colony? I had hoped by now I would of seen a little more activety, the only other thing I can do is remove the stone acting as a roof to the nest chamber, to see what is going on, but really really donot want to do this, but frustration is creeping in, I will hold out for now
