Hi folk, just a quick video update, isn't the best quality for some reason but when I zoom out you can see the growth which has been pretty good. Had a guy who may possible buy them for the tropical house/ park he works in so fingers crossed he gets back to me.

Hi, I ordered new pipe which arrived today so I got to work shortening the existing pipe work width wise so I can box it in better for the winter coming and I even managed to fit the braces at the bottom and for the basic rear insulation panel. The pipes where full of ant so there was a lot of angry ants as I just plugged up the pipe while sawing to size lol.

Some may not like this but I thought it was interesting, I was feeding the colony and one ant that I hadn't noticed got caught in the door and was be-headed. the ant with out a head was still able to right itself when I tried to over turn it etc, was very strange. Which means it must have its sensors for detecting its position on its body. clip to come.

Another weird thing is that I done a bit of work yesterday on the set-up expanding pipes etc and today I put in apple and bramble which I haven't put in the tank for a while so would have expected them to be well received, especially the apple but all day I've had just loads of ants/ foragers just roaming the tank chirping, not interested in the offerings. ? Are they looking for quitter premises?

They have started a fungus garden in their new pipe work!! No!!! This blocks their route to foraging tank. I'm going to have to remove it and drill hole in it, I forgot to do this, will need to do it full of ants as I couldn't get them all out Does make me think that I should lower their nest tank temperature a bit though from 25 degrees.

Bought a 1.5mm drill to increase ventilation in pipe work and look who was climbing the pipe work! Glad I noticed her but can't say I was pleased to see her. A noticeable difference between the Acromyrmex and Atta queen apart from the obvious size is the Acro queen is not mobbed or covered by any ants unlike an atta queen who is covered constantly, also this highlights what I said previously about how willing the Acromyrmex is to move about.

I had look today at pipes and there still building a fungus garden in there at the moment which is annoying but I did see something that I have never read about. Initially I though one if the queens was dead but on closer inspection she had her legs in tight like a ant in a pupae state and was getting a lift on a solitary worker ant! , she was only just bigger than her worker. Atta queen-covered in minums Acromyrmex queen- hitches lifts lol

Been 3 days since the colony has been interested in any leaves now and am starting to get concerned. what makes this more worrying is that they have been what I can only describe as swarming the foraging tank. For at least 3 days if I open the foraging tank I'm killing several ants as they try to escape, I cannot put them back without more escaping. I did what leafcutter suggested but I was reluctant to do as of the volume of ants and remove the visible queen and put her back in a lower tube adjacent to the main nest tank. I also removed the fungus but they have already put some back since this morning. They may be doing this because of the disturbance I caused in adding pipe or it may be something wrong in the nest tank but I do hope they cut soon and stop swarming. I did take a clip of the queen when I moved her for you to see. Ill also upload a clip of the swarming but it really doesn't do them justice as it doesn't really give you an idea of the volume of ants that just want to find a way out it seems!
