You can still see into those boxes well enough, so they do the job of nest extension just fine. Look forward to seeing them full of ants and more fungus gardens.

That was exactly what I was thinking-will be great when there full but will be a lot of ants as each box is double the size of there current ones so it's like adding 8 Stewart hatchling boxes lol. I've sorted the clip, thank you.

Few problems had arose recently. •Ants struggling to scale diagonal pipe with larger leafs •Mist in foraging tank pipe.
•Possible causes>
•Recently tried them with pine nuts as they love almond but they degrade to quickly and there is one at foot of diagonal pipe, may be it's affecting there grip. •Warmer air from viv condensing in cooler foraging tank pipes at cooler night temps. Could be the cause of ants not having grip also.
•Solutions???
• Remove nut and clean pipe. • Improve insulation and connect the heatmat to work independantly of the viv stat which it currently is on so should be warmer.

Removed pine nut and cleaned pipe, though I don't think this was the cause as it didn't feel greasy. I managed to remove heatmat from the base and mount on the side, made adjustments to celotex insulation so it fits really tight against the glass and also added an extra layer under the top panel in the form of an old quilt ha ha. Once it gets colder the light will come down for the winter and top sealed.

Hi Deansie, Would love to see a new update for you Atta colony. Also, I have a bit of a question for you, what leaves do you give you Attas? because your fungus is a very different colour to mine

Hi, short update as requested and has been a while. Changes that have happened are- *light unit removed for winter to seal and retain heat better. *Two heat mats on foraging tank controlled by a thermostat. *New garden started. *Re-arrangement of the pipe system. One the ants stated the new garden it was constructed very quickly and the queen moved in, they where letting their initial garden deteriorate-well that's what it looked like to me. I could only surmise that they prefer that kind of tub with less ventilation. As a result I relocated there waste dump to the middle chamber and moved there old fungus to the similar tub. I have noticed that the soldiers can not climb the vertical plastic pipe so I have rearranged them on a slant so the gradient isn't so steep and they can venture out to the table/ water bowl. Not ideal but it will do till I build a new foraging tank next year. Can anyone tell me do the soldiers need to get to the water bowl? They seem to do ok not getting out.

Hi, everyone-sorry I've not updated sooner but nothing has been happening in Atta world really. The ants have filled the first tub completely and are building up numbers, the two adjacent tubs are being used as rubbish tips ? I've opened up the rear two large boxes to them over the last few days, one is empty and one has a layer of damp crushed clay type substrate so we'll see what they get up to. I quite like the granules as they can adjust the air flow using them. They did start making a garden in the foraging pipe so I know there ready to do so. Hope everyone is well and had a nice crimbo/ new year.
