Am I the only one that has seen flights? I've just seen a few niger Queens flying round. One has unfortunately got caught in a spiders Web and met her demise.
I need to order my tubes now, and quick!

I randomly found a Lasius niger Queen in my living room last week, in the evening. She still had her wings and my partner was convinced that she must have come from my captive colony as there hadn't been any flights in our area. However, my colony is too young to produce alates and even so it's extremely unlikely one could escape. I suspect that this Queen had accidentally flown the nest too soon.

I have just picked up 6 wandering wingless niger Queens and placed then into tubes.

I haven't seen any flights yet. By the way Elitzchupa, I ordered a load of test tubes from ebay some time ago (they are really cheap), in time for the flights

I'm on ebay now ordering tubes. I clearly a bit late but judging by the amount of Queens I have seen. This is only a portion and more flights should be expected late in the year.

If I see any on back garden I'll collect them. not seen any yet though, been a little cold today so they won't be ready.
