Are we able to comment on this thread Adam? If so, are you able to upload a photo of the whole set up and what substrata have you placed on the bottom for these lovely looking Queens.

It will be interesting to see if one queen takes on the role of main egg layer while the others adopt the role of nurses. Often insubordinate queens to the dominant queen will not lay eggs until they are away from the influence of her stronger pheromones. I expect many of the guys will watch this journal with keen interest, as I know I will for sure Adam.

brilliant experiment Adam. I hope it goes well for you and hopefully the Queens will be fine with each other. I have also read that Pheidole pallidula can have polygyne colonies.

Thanks Wood, so far it looks like several queens are still laying and adding to the pile, cannot speak for all of them but certainly seen at least two of them laying at the same time. Hopefully all will get on fine. Any sighn of aggression and I will swiftly pooter up the targeted queen and take a little brood but so far all grooming and getting on fine.
Thanks eciton yeah I hope so. Apparently yes they will accept new queens too so I am assuming from scratch I have better chance at them all be accepted by the workers. Time will tell.
Adam

Your video is working fine and in HD. Nice to see so many Pheidole queens working as a co-operative group.

Lovely close up of the royals, what are you using to video as the quality is excellent?
I see you have some kind of substrate down in the chamber, is it sand?

Hey Elitz my camera is just my iPhone with a magnetic macro lens attached, there chamber is only about 5 mm in depth so can get pretty close shots. The substrate is a small layer of plaster literally about a millimeter then sand poured on top. left to dry and excess sand removed and plaster brushed clean to remove all loose sand. Holds moisture well and looks pretty natural. Adam
