I have just seen a Formica Lemani male alate walking along my front doorstep mat. His legs are incredibly long, almost making him look daddy long legs like.

I found a lone queen today too, smaller than Lasius niger with brown legs.

I picked him up and had a good examine but sadly didn't have any camera on me and by the time I went back down he was gone. Had a look for any wandering queens too but sadly there wasn't any.

Well it must have been my lucky day as when I was leaving the house there he was sitting on my doormat, the same as yesterday Edit: Sorry for the poor quality, the images have blurred when I uploaded them, hopefully you can still make out his interestingly long legs

This looks like Lasius Umbractus, did you keep her?
