Unlike most Messor which only have 1 queen per colony, structor is more like Myrmica and can have several. Not too big either and very hard body armour.

Very productive colony, it was a shame the other 3 queens died as they would have laid eggs as well.

I'm excited to hear that you will soon have a supplier in Brazil Dean. If you ever have a colony of Neoponera apicalis (Pachycondyla apicalis) available let me know please mate as this is my most wanted species and I'd prefer to purchase from you. This sounds interesting, hope Dean does get some more cool ants in stock and his site does well.

Does such a red queen produce red workers as well?

Did it exterminate the Teddy Bears by firing the missile?

Cats don't have fleas! Yes they do as our cat got covered in them. The vet said he had probably got infested from wild animals like foxes or hedgehogs.

Like Wood Ant said, it looks like a Myrmica species, but you can never give a positive correct ID from just photos. It kind of depends on what Myrmica you have in your country

Good to see they are laying eggs. Doesn't seem that long since you got them as eggs themselves and then as babies.

Still no foraging, getting a little frustrated at the lack of activety, but keep watching, am thinking about maybe getting another colony as I have empty nests and I did enjoy my nigers and maybe if I have 2 colonies, It might just stop me pulling this one apart to check for live. In case this colony has died off it would be a good idea to get 1 or 2 more up and running.

OK, checked them this evening and 6 larvae are medium to large size. The colony has about 20 more eggs and larvae. I will post pictures as soon as the first larave of the year pupates Great, these ants are cool and I love to see photos of them.
