Seen a number of them in the tube in front of the connector on the worm world but not noticed any inside yet.

Tunnels are being dug, they're a good few cm below the surface now.

That was quick When they have dug deep enough and long enough they will then entice the queen to move. That is if they want to move out of the ytongs side.

Both queens are in the soil nest!

Both queens are in the soil nest! That is excellent news, as their pheromones will attract the rest of the colony to move in by following the scent trail.

All but one worker have left the ytong now.
I've added sticky backed magnets to the card on the outside of the terrarium to keep it in place and allow easy removal.

All but one worker have left the ytong now. Given the choice, ants will always pick the most natural environment to nest in; and about 87% of ant species around the world nest in soil.

Not happy with the amount of condensation I've turned the heat mat off. Moved the thermostat probe to inside the worm world and it's read 24C all day anyway dangling in the air.
The last worker finally left the old ytong nest so I've blocked the access holes off. Obviously as the current outworld is bolted to the ytong I need to leave them in place until the new one arrives.

Gave them some chicken last night, placed in their outworld. This morning I find it left in the tubing between outworld and nest. Big reduction in condensation since turning the heatmat off. Sat at 23C over night, dropped to 22.5C this morning with doors being opened but still a good temperature. New outworld should be delivered today, just hoping it arrives intact.

Forgot to add that there's now very little activity in the outworld. They seem to be concentrating on digging as the pile of soil is larger every time I look in.

Not a very good picture but the new outworld did in fact arrive in the correct number of pieces! I decided to add another connector on the inside and extend some tube to the floor to make transporting food easier. I imagine they'd have a very hard time trying to carry it vertically.

Added substrate to the foraging box. Didn't see any ants yesterday and none so far this morning.

Yep, finally saw one earlier and they're still digging.
