Due to the warm weather, currently there is a nuptial flight occurring around my neck of the woods; but this has caught the attention of some other fascinating insects, Dragonflys. There must have been about 15 of them swarming over the gardens and biting the abdomens clean off the queens, sending them crashing to earth still alive, but half eaten. As well as this there are also 100's of Seagulls up high in the sky which is always a clear indicator of a nuptial flights around here. It just makes you realise what a young queen is up against when it's time for her to leave the nest.

that's nature I guess, but it sounds like a Hitchcock horror film. Those poor queens don't stand a chance, I'd be out there wanting to save the lot
