I just tried my Mymica Sabuleti with a pea for food.I figured they might need some greens. I was amazed at how fast they eat it compared to how they normally feed. I googled the pea and came up with this and it seems just right for protein and sugar plus other stuff !!!
Nutritional value[edit] Peas are starchy, but high in fiber, protein, vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C, vitamin K, phosphorus, magnesium, copper, iron, zinc and lutein.[25] Dry weight is about one-quarter protein and one-quarter sugar.[26] Pea seed peptide fractions have less ability to scavenge free radicals than glutathione, but greater ability to chelate metals and inhibit linoleic acid oxidation.[27]
Cheers Paul :-)

Now that's interesting and a bit unexpected I have no fresh peas but I do have some frozen ones and I will be offering them to all my colony's tonight. Thanks guys Mine were cooked frozen ones and they went down a treat. I put cooked and un cooked steak in tonight but the peas were still their preference :-)

It was the peas mate.they took to them the moment they were placed in.the following morning they had reduced it to a funky green sand.the messor colony managed to do much better ? Great to hear that news.My wife says they are high in cholesterol and are not good if you suffer from high blood pressure. Not really sure if this applies to ants tho :-) :-) Cheers Paul
