Just a 2 mile walk from our home is the Trundle, part of the South Downs National Park. Not far from the top is a little spot that has several ant nests, and these are home to some nice Myrmica rubra colonies, as seen here in these photos taken by Jenny. You can see the odd Lasius flavus worker among the larvae, as their nest was under the same stone, so some of the larvae may have been mixed species.
