I received a small colony of Camponotus Barbaricus today from anthouse, Spain. It's certainly been a long journey for this queen and her 4 workers so I fed them some honey and fly larvae. I love how much the gaster expands on Camponontus Sp when they eat!
So far no brood at all, but after being fed and being allowed to settle I'm sure that will change.

Did the 2 acrylic nests come with this colony?

They did indeed I received a founding chamber and a mini-horizontal, and a bag of white putty stuff (I'm not actually sure what this is), but the nests look great; I cannot wait to try them.

This colony now only has 3 workers unfortunately, however has a pile of small larvae which are guarded by the workers A picture of the queen and the worker holding the larvae:

There are just 3 larvae but they are increasing in size, progression is slow with this colony.

3 more eggs have been laid, and the larvae continue to grow in size.

After eating a bluebottle yesterday the queen has laid two more eggs, bringing the egg count to 5.

Two of the larvae have pupated, and there are a few new eggs and perhaps freshly hatched larvae. Slow and steady progress with this colony.
