Today I recieved a Queen with eggs, brood, and pupae from UKantz. She arrived safe and after letting her settle for a bit I fed her a small fly which she quicky started getting tucked into.
I am looking forward to watching this colony grow and will provide weekly updates.
Here is a video of the queen with her prize fly -

I'm glad she arrived safe and sound! Hopefully those pupae will enclose soon so she'll have her first workers.

If you haven't kept this species before Dean, you will enjoy watching the colony grow as they are a lovely ant to keep.

This queen is the most dedicated and tentative I have ever seen. She is constantly tending to the 15 or so larvae she now has and 4 pupae.
She has had two flies which she takes off the probe I use to get them into the testtube without fear, nothing seems to phase her.
I am really looking forward to the first workers joining her.

Her first worker is out and another cocoon darkened today. She now has 5 cocoons, 1 worker and a few larvae.

3 workers have now joined the queen. Really excited to watch this colony grow. I have put the test tube in a small clear tub so they can come out for sugar water and food. The queen always comes out first to get some, totally unfazed by me watching her or puting my finger near.

4th worker joined the young colony today and still has 1 cocoon left plus I estimate 20+ larvae. I moved the test tube into a small container to act as a foraging area and added a fresh clean testube with water as their current one has dried up.
