I always thought termites were impossible to keep. For how long have I been wrong? John ¶ anbudan ¶ அன்புடன் me =°= =°= =°= =°= =°= = ॐ = Certainly not impossible! Some species such as Macrotermes (Which are the ones with the massive, bloated queens you see in documentaries) are much harder since they grow fungus gardens similarly to leafcutter ants in the wild, but Reticulitermes is very easy so long as you keep it damp and dark for them. You can literally feed them toilet or tissue paper since it contains cellulose, which the termites eat. Reticulitermes are blind and very bad climbers so escape is pretty much impossible as long as you're careful. The only trouble is that termite keeping hasn't yet blown up in popularity like ant keeping has in recent years, so there's not as much care information available. I've actually been thinking about trying to keep harvester termites (Which eat grass) one day since I've seen king/queen pairs for sale.
