My queen arrived at the end of November, bought from British Ants, shipped on the 24th. She arrived on a very cold morning and I was very worried she would be frozen. However, she slowly started moving her antenna much to my delight I placed the test tube in a small out world connected to a small acrylic nest, she did move into it and I kept it humid and warm. However, after 3 weeks there were still no eggs, though she had fed. I placed a new test tube into the outworld 10mm*80mm, she promptly moved in overnight and laid 3 eggs. Since then I detached the acrylic nest and covered the out world to make it dark. I will need to update on egg/larvae as I have not seen clearly inside. However, last night I placed another test tube inside as the old one is running dry.

I have seen them advertised on that site, I hope things work out for you as there is little information about them,I know because I tried learning all I could, since there from Asia maybe check out other Asian species for humidity/temperature,maybe you could keep a journal like I did.

Put a small portion of cricket with a little honey in the outworld today. Couldn't get a great look inside the tube today, but the queen had a white bundle in her jaws

I'm not sure if it was before or after moving to the new test tube, but checking with a torch carefully I saw the queen has eaten any eggs or larvae she had. Have moved the test tube to a shoebox I know stays at 25c, going to set up a DIY nest meantime. :/

Sorry she ate her brood,I'm sure in time she will lay more eggs, make sure to feed her protein, honey in itself has protein but only a minute amount,I found that my ants never really took to protein jelly,I'd try her on half a cut up meal worm.

Being a rain forest ant moisture will be more important for them than non rain forest species to survive although other members of the forum maybe could give advice on how to achieve this as my ants are opposite and like things a bit drier

I don't want to clutter the journal too much here, but I do a lot of research before I buy ants, and because test tubes retain such high humidity I think it's suitable - I think this is just an unfortunate reality that some queens are more stressed at the earlier stages.

I didn't mean any offense by my replies and I'm sure you are doing everything right. I have a habit of trying to help people even if they don't want/need my help and I can be very annoying with it, good to know your queen is in very capable hands.

She now has a single long egg. Has eaten several flies (kinda torn to shreds) & enjoyed several parts of jelly. Being kept at a constant 27c.

Somewhat frustratingly this queen has not laid, and has no eggs. Am going to set up a humus brick filled test tube today for her, with the end of the tube clear for leaving food.
