I prepared an outworld for them with a perlite substrate and let them loose. They've already brought a cricket into the nest, so at least they shouldn't be any trouble to feed. I'd like to get a photo of the majors but they're even more elusive than the queen at the moment.

Fred didn't have this colony on his website, very nice TenebrousNova. I wonder if he ever gets any Pogonomyrmex? I must ask him sometime if he can get certain ant species. How is your single queen doing? I have to admit that I prefer a colony myself to be honest.

Hi Wood, I only check the single queen on Thursdays but I can only hope she's seen sense and laid eggs again since she was doing so well until last week. Fred gets in some interesting species sometimes. Early this year he even had Oecophylla smaragdina, which I would love but don't have space for.

I'm sorry to say that the other founding queen has also died. I wish I knew what caused it.

I'm sorry to say that the other founding queen has also died. I wish I knew what caused it. So sadly both the single queens died, which is a shame as they had initially laid eggs. A good job you got the colony then, and I hope that it does better for you.

Both queens were doing great about three weeks ago with loads of eggs. The colony has just taken a second cricket.

There's no sign of any more eggs being laid, but the colony is still eating and seems content enough. I'm wondering if I should break out the heat mat to encourage the queen to lay more. Here she is:

The sinica colony is still eating regularly but the queen doesn't seem to have laid any more eggs since I got her. I think I need to break out the heat mat again and see if that encourages her to lay.
