Your set-up looks nice and compact with good visibility of the ants. Which one is the feeding chamber? Curious to know how you would feed them without them escaping in a set-up like that. Now all it needs is the ants! I feel your pain but I am working in reverse... I have the ants and missing a key piece I need to get them safely into the nest! As for your problem with adding the images: Hopefully this might help you out.
Looking forward to hearing more about your colony! -Joshua.

This is the feeding chamber with a sliding lid, so yes may be problematic with escaping, however will give it a go and see. The plan is to add on a foraging area as the colony grows

Ants arrived today and look well. I put a drop of protein shake in which got no interest and a drop of sunburst liquid nectar which they went straight to. I’ve connected the test tube to the nest, put white paper under the tube and turned a light on them to encourage them to move, lets see!!

So problem number 1 with the new nest. If the clips are not fully seated ants can escape!! Caught 2 of them having a wander around outside the nest lol

***15th May*** So I’ve added some dried meal worm that I hydrated with boiled water and a lot of the ants have relocated the brood to a very humid part of the nest, which is also one corner that’s on the heat mat. Picture not very good due to condensation in the chamber. The queen has not moved yet so will see what the next 24 do 👍

Your set up has large droplets of water. This needs to dry out as it could drown the workers and brood. I suggest you turn off the heat mat as it is causing more of a problem and less of a benefit to the nest.

Yes all the ants went back to the tube so I sealed them in and emptied all the water out... it was swimming! So that was a learning point for me. However since then I now have an empty test tube 😁 Going to leave them alone for a few days now, added some chopped mealworms and a swatted house fly for them

Unfortunately I’ve just found the queen dead and pulled out with the rubbish. Not a great find when getting in from work 😢
