After my last 3 queen colony went to one queen then died I have bought a replacement colony.
No nest for them yet as it’s on it’s way from Spain, so I’ve just left the test tube in the outworld
I hope the one Queen with the other in her jaws is just trying to assert dominance and not trying to kill her!

Well these ladies are nasty! Lol
Well one of them is; she has killed one queen and the other is being bullied by her.
Nest arrived today so I’m going to allow the dominant queen to move in first 👍

Nest arrived today so I’m going to allow the dominant queen to move in first 👍 To be honest most ant keepers buy a small colony of this ant species, and all the ones for sale have just a single queen as they are so aggressive and do better kept as a monogyn colony rather than a polygyn.

Well that’s this colony dead and my time with Rubida at an end!
Of the 2 queens left one is dead and the other so badly injured she only has 2 legs left

I did try to warn you about the perils of keeping more than one queen of this species together. The aggressive nature of the most dominant made her wipe out the weaker ones, who she saw as the opposition. Is this journal now ending here graeme?

Hi wood, I was of the opinion that antshq were selling a poly colony they would be ok, but not the case.
