The main problem with placing photos on this forum is judging the right size to use. Owing to the width of the page, some larger photos may mean that the page is pushed out, and consequently needs to be scrolled for the picture to be viewed 
You can use your own computers picture editor to do this. Right click on your picture and you will see the "edit picture" on the open menu. Go on the bit that says "image" and open it to find the "stretch and skew" control. Now use this to make your photo smaller both horizontally and vertically ( height & width wise).
I usually make mine about 20% give or take a few either way!
Doing this will reduce the number of Kilobytes (Kb) and therefore make the photo easier to download.
If you use Photobucket or any other reputable picture host, they will not accept photos larger than 250Kb anyway
You can also edit photos with your online host to downsize them; but personally I find it simpler to make the photo smaller in size before placing it into my Photobucket album.
Then when the image is posted on the Ant Hill, it is the ideal size for other members to view it and enjoy it
Please remember, any pictures that are too large cause the page to extend, and require a scroll.
Photos that are too big and cause this to happen will be better placed as an URL, and we will do this when necessary for the Picture Gallery to remain a pleasant spot to come in and look at your ant pics
