I haven't said much about my ants, they are Lasius niger. they came in a tube with eggs and larvae, 5 ants, one queen, now there are 7 ants and lots of eggs, larvae and about 8 cocoons ready to hatch in a few days. I've had a bit of a problem with feeding them protein, like flies. there isn't any flies around here any more . so I got crickets 2 days ago , coming in the post. about a week ago one new white ant came out but it was dead .

Try buying mealworms. They are cheap and easy to get. Do they still have a proper water sorce? I wonder if anyone has tried to give ants a protein pill dissolved in water to help give them a booste. I might do this with tetramorium to see any effects on them.

I think you will have to start allowing for that Xmas post from here on in. But you could always send them an email as a reminder? Sometimes they are waiting for stock to come in as was the case when Wood ordered something the other week

I have been feeding my Pheidologeton diversus with fish feed, those flaky kind, in addition to the usual mealworm, recently. They are taking it well and I believe it would also work with other ant species.
Fish feed is quite cheap, buy a small amount and try it
