After having what has been the warmest and sunniest day of July, the Lasius flavus and L. niger nests poured out hundreds of winged males and females. The flights began around 4pm and went on until 7pm. I picked up around 20 newly mated niger queens and 10 flavus. Now I will try to get a few colonies going and see what happens. It was such a relief to see the local ants flying at long last
