I agree with Kyle, it is what we call a "Hard Back" or sometimes a "Leather Jacket" and it is most certainly a Woodlouse of some kind

isn't a leather jacket a crane fly larva? I've always called they either pea bug or cheesy bugs (no idea why  )

I've always called they either pea bug or cheesy bugs (no idea why  ) I think a lot of it has to do with what part of the country you live in, and also what your parents may have called them. We called them "Hardbacks" as kids and a "Leather Jacket" was a Crane Fly larva, but some did occasionally use the latter name. The most common name however is still a Wood Louse I believe www.porcellio.scaber.org/wlice.htm
