Jen has been busy taking a few photos of my small cruentatus colony. I debated whether or not to place these on my colony journal, but decided to place these 4 pics of my single queen and her lone worker here instead. As you can see, the colony is due to expand very soon now, as there are 7 cocooned pupae and about 20 eggs.

When I visited Spain a few years ago, this was one my favorites among the ant species there. You'll want to keep this colony warm, and just a bit drier than most, I think.

Thanks for the info Doctor Ant. The colony is in a small tank half filled with damp peat & sand mix, but inside our airing cupboard for extra warmth, as at the moment they seem to have stopped eating; but I have the same trouble with my other colony of C. ligniperda who also never seem to want to eat, so what they survive on I don't know as it's been almost 3 months since they last ate even though there is food available for them
