Though id have a check on her today and she seems tobe doing fine eating some nut bit of a seed just befor tending to her egg. Heres a micro shot. she got abit camera shy after that last pic but her workers did move her grubs and a new born ant closer to glass for a nice micro shot.

I got them from antstore, 4 workers but 1 died and she had only around 3 or 4 egg's. all in good condition and alive and well.
They got a lot fatter now though in there new environment and her new grubs are growing really fast with looks of it too which maybe cos of the heatwave here .

Lovely photos Shane. I hope your colony grows well, as my 2 Messor barb colonies have done. Both of mine are filled with lots of larvae and pupae of all sizes and stages of development, so with all this heatwave we are getting this summer, your colony should grow really fast You can follow my ant colonies in the Ant Journals Board

I've found out that they love crushed nut bird seeds with out shells, almost like a grain of sand at their entrance the workers take in to the nest, Like you would have a very small pinch of salt on your dinner. I read your Messor barb colonies Ant Journals, Was very helpful, I found that putting very little crushed seed at there entrance stops some of workers trying to close entrance up and in end seem to give up with odd worker in and out making entrance hole bigger with taken seed bits in to nest, Was watching them last night and a little funny to see
