Anyone got any Nuptial flights to report where they live? I have been watching a flavus nest where I live and the queens and males are poking their heads out of the nest every evening. No flights thou, must be the hit and miss weather I think.

Nope, none here. I live in Glasgow, UK. The weather has been decent, although I have seen one Wingless Queen wandering around. Never collected here though. She was Lasius Niger.

Today!
Just got a wingless Lasius niger. A wingless red ant and a few red ants with wings but the winged ones seem to all be going a bit nutty all stuttering about jerking which is a bit weird

Large flights again of Lasius niger in the North West. I thought they had already all flown about two weeks ago but there was even more around today. Interestingly the flights were about midday. I noticed them because there were about thirty seagulls circling around over one particular area and then large numbers of Lasius queens scurrying over the ground.
