We found a small cricket in our kitchen/diner this afternoon, and after killing it I decided to give this insect prey to our Lucy colony. Just 27 seconds after I filmed this video our Formica lusatica had dragged the prey into their nest, where it promptly vanished down as tunnel never to be seen again.

Yes, I too have encountered where a group of ants on the look out of food just go strait past a freshly killed cricket and go some where else to hunt where there is absolutely no food, so I drop another piece where they are and they just go another way far away from both of the crickets I have given them.

Those Lucies of yours are clever, as anyone can clearly see the workers are just getting the cricket into the right approach path to glide easily up the tubing into their nest Wood
