The first major worker (albeit one of the smallest in a Pheidologeton colony) eclosed yesterday. Another larger major worker is in the larva stage.
No longer able to count the number of workers due to the constant movement.

The nest has nearly a hundred workers now but only one small major worker, one major worker in the pupa stage and two super major in the larva stage.
Will relocated the nest from the nursery container to a transparent plastic one in a months time.

A super major worker pupated yesterday while the second major worker eclosed three days ago. A few major workers larva are in the development stage and one super major worker larva has stopped feeding and should pupate within these two days.
Problem I am having with this nest is the translucent material makes it hard to watch the nest development.
I hope to move the nest to a clear plastic containter next month after the first two super major eclosed.

Exactly 11 days after the first mega super major pupated, it is finally in callows colour. It began to eclosed this morning.
The nest is now over five times as large when the first brood started foraging.

Slightly over 2 months and this nest has grown to several hundred workers. I just shifted the nest yesterday to a transistory red coloured transparent plastic container. Hope to transfer them to a clear plastic container coming Sunday.
This nest has grown without any mishap and is proportionately much larger at this stage then the previous one I recorded here.

The largest worker - a mega super major just began a pupa last Sunday. This colony had hardly grown since I last posted. In fact it had actually shrunk. I have not been able to provide it with enough food due to being over busy.

This nest has not grown much since I last update this entry. Hopefully from next year onwards I will have more them to culture other food sources to grow this nest to maturity.
The last two months of this year will see me sorting some personal matters and it probably won't be until sometime next year before these are all sorted out.

Last entry for this nest. due to over commitment I have not been able to attend to my ants and had decided to release them. This nest was released a month ago. I still retained a few termite nests as these do not need the maintenance that ants do.

Sorry to hear you are not keeping these ants any longer, but perhaps you might get other colonies next year. This journal is now considered closed
