great pics! are these the ants Myrmica with the queen much larger than the workers or the queen almost the same size as the workers?

This is what you can expect to find later in the season when you upturn rocks. These were found in our local area a couple of years ago. queenant.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=photos&action=display&thread=1136767207I was on bended knees taking these pics, and in the warm spring sunshine you have to be fast, or you find them in your shoes and heading up the trousers This species survive far better in the wild than in they do in captivity, and really I prefer to see them that way
