I have just bathed "The Ant Hill cat", Chester who is normally pictured in my signature. Fleas and more fleas, no wonder he has been darting around the living room like a mad thing. He had been "Frontlined" (vets spray), but I am sure the fleas get used to it. He is quite good in the bath and will tolerate it to a point, but you have to start them young. I have killed the fleas in one foul swoop, either using the dog insecticidal shampoo, or another one which is cheaper is "Polytar", from Boots the chemist (UK). Polytar is for all scalp conditions, and smells of coaltar, the cat comes out gleaming once dry. He is shivering now and keeping well away from me! I guess I had better bath the other Persian, Dylan, and the dog Bobby. I could have chucked them in all together ;D but it is keeping them there I hope if we have colder weather, it will calm the fleas down from hatching out...........

I only have a dog and it's very difficult to get him to cooperate for a bath. I can only imagine the struggle it would be to bathe a cat! . But as you said, their fur is so much more enjoyable to pet after a cleaning. I am surprised the fleas are still out in England! It is very cold here already, and you guys are higher up in the northern hemisphere than us!
