Not sure if in the right place so apologies if so. I have a DVD/VCR player. It is a DAEWOO DC. However it is behaving rather oddly. The unit is fully functional yet whenever you touch it the unit gives of an electrical discharge. Not a full shock but enough to be uncomfortable, like a needle prick. Is this unit unsafe? Is it fit only for disposal or can this be easily rectified?... If anyone is able to help....?? Thanks.

Have you asked the shop you got it from, or the manufacturers? It sounds like a static buildup to me.

This might be a stupid question have you looked to see if it is earthed? Stand it on a rubber mat? It is obviously building up static like our sky box does, just a few suggestions. Is it in a closed enviroment? Wood is very sensitive to electricity too and used to get shocks off the car steering wheel all the time.

I have not enclosed the unit and it stands upon a glass 3 tier TV stand.
It is 4 1/2 years old and so beyong warranty advice.
As to myself, I have a history of electrical appliances dying on me. From mobile telephones to electrical components in my car.
I will however try Jenants suggestion of checking the earth circuit and then place it on a rubber mat.
Thanks to all for your advice.
