Hello, I was wondering what you people think about what type of water to use for your ant farm? For ages I used just normal tap water as I didn't think that added chemicals in tap water would really bother the ants, but recently I have read that bottled natural/spring/mineral water should be used all the time.

I was told never to use Distilled.. water.. due to the way they treat it. I use water from my Brita filter as it is just filtered through charcoal and no chemicals are used.. Not had any problems with that.

A lot depends on the quality of the water coming out of the tap (faucet), as if it is hard and full of lime it can form nasty crusts of limescale. Soft water is better, and the best form is collected rain-water; but as Jennifer says you can use filtered water, or boil some water and allow it to cool as this will remove most of the chemicals from it
