I found a newly mated queen on my way home for school today (imagine my surprise when I almost stepped on the poor lady ) and I now have her set up in a DnD dice container with food, water, and cotton wool blocking the entrance so as to keep her from escaping but allowing air in. I won't be able to do anything about a terrarium for a bit so she's going to be in there for a while. As queens tend to be photophobic should I keep her in a dark place or is light alright? If she can handle light how much or often should she be exposed to said light?

Hi Foxkit, As neither you nor we know for sure if this queen is semi or fully claustral, I would play safe and keep her in the dark as much as possible. You can check on her for a brief period (no more than a minute) every day or couple of days to see how she is getting on, and to perhaps offer a tiny amount of food; but she is best left alone to get on with things as then she might start laying a few eggs

Thanks for your reply wood, If I knew myrmecology better I would try to take a guess at her species. Doing that at this point would be a hit or miss. I'm keeping her in a fairly dark place for now, she hasn't touched the fly I put in there so far. Hopefully she lays eggs so I can continue further plans for the terrarium.
