I run my hand along the cat this morning. On his chest what felt like a slimy snail (he tends to pick them up in the grass) turned out to be a large sheep tick. Those horrible things like baked beans, that suck on the animals blood, Urhhhh they make me shudder as they feel cold and wet! Still it had to come off, and as I don't smoke the only other choice was some surgical spirit and tweezers. I was lucky, the mouth part came off as well I promptly handed it to Wood to squeeze (I wonder if ants would eat such things?

I don't know much about Ticks as I don't live in the country but I think they might like them as my cat (Midnight) had fleas a few month back. I kill the few we seen and dropped them into the ant farm the ants took them down into there nest straight away (we used the flea drops for her the same day). I haven't ever seen Tick and though they were the same size as flea (boy was I wrong). I have seen a cartoon called the Tick ;D but never a really one.
Could we let us know if the ant's liked them?

Wood wouldn't offer a sheep tick to the ants, he said they are too full of blood. They look like a blown up baked bean and are harmful to the cat if they stay on for some time, they also spread disease. I spray the cats and dog with Frontline regular, but find it doesn't last long, not the 3month stretch that the vet says anyway and so I end up bathing them. Polytar you buy for humans, which is a coal tar based shampoo for skin problems, is brilliant at killing fleas, far better than the green Vetzyme shampoo for dogs I would be careful giving ants grass fleas, as the host animal is usually treated with a flea spray or drops. The flea bites the animal and then dies taking the poison in . Ants might be sensitive to this

I can see why Wood didn't want to give them to the ants and nice tip on the shampoo. Midnight my little girl is one a year old. Her mother Tinkabell move into my mum an dad's when we move into the house we are in now. I still see her ever day as I live at the back of my mum's. I know Midnight hadn't had any flea stuff on her when I gave them to the ants. But since we have been using the flea drops we get off the vet I haven't seen any at all.
And, today I seen Ticks on the telly in a program call swarms. It had about fire ants bees and wasps.

My dogs get ticks only once a year but, are about 3-5 each day on average. It usually last 2 weeks. I love the way they pop if you burn them. Usually we find them before they bite.
