I have the S9500 which is the big brother of your camera, and I have found Fuji Finepix to be an excellent camera for most things including taking pics of insects This is the camera that Shawn is using} www.reviewcentre.com/info-145686.html

The butterfly was on normal macro, but the super macro is very good. You can take pics as close as 1cm it's very cool and not too pricey Shawn

I was looking at a proper SLR cameras but I couldn't bring myself to spend more than £100 on a camera. But I'm thinking of taking it up as a hobby now so you never know Shawn

I have a hybrid Samsung SLR, plus the Samsung Pro 815, but the camera is as only good as the lense. To be able to take excellent ant photos, I would have to spend the same again on a macro lense I have gone camera mad over the years, and I am also into video cameras, but it is making the extra effort to drag all this equipment around with you on a walk
