Excellent video, and while I feel sorry for the people who get stung so badly, my money is still on the Fire Ants surviving the fly attacks. Those flies may be a good way of keeping some control on Fire Ant populations, and it is interesting to see how the ants are suddenly developing into polygynous colonies.

Yeh I found it really interesting too. I tried to find more information on the current situation, but only found papers as recent as 2006 which said that there was 12 different species of phorid fly and they have spread through out Texas. I found another paper that said scientists infected some phorid flies with a pathogen that would wipe out entire colonies.
