My ants the other day were very active and foraged a lot, they dragged off 3 fruit flies and drunk some honey. Today I haven't seen a thing from them, and they haven't even touched the fruit flies freshly put in today Is that normal? Or should I be worried?

I wouldn't worry too much, as at this time of the year ants don't need to feed every day. As for foraging, they will come out for food when they really need it, and if that means 2 or 3 times a week, then that will be fine. You will find they forage more when they have lots of hungry larvae to feed, and when the weather gets warmer.

Ok thanks for that information, I haven't had a head count of them yet but I must have about 10 adult workers and very large pile of first stage larva and the queen is doing really well. cannot wait till they rise in numbers so I can move them into their permanent home Lasius flavus colony is showing no activity only time will tell.......
