I live in the Eastern and Western United States, and I am having a bit of an identity crisis right now. I wish we didn't have to bleed our larvae to feed; it's a good thing there are only about 16 of us in this nest.
What species am I?

Thinking of Dracula here, I am guessing at Amblyopone pallipes as the ant species?

Yep! That's right! Now known as Stigmatomma pallipes. I was shocked when I found out just how small their colonies are. I'm definitely on the lookout for a queen of this species in my area, though it is a specialist predator of Geophilidae centipedes.

Is the species found in both the old world and the new world, or just the genus?

New ClueAs nobody has guessed me yet, I am a Pogonomyrmex species which lives in the New World; but I am not found north of the equator, so I am not a native of the USA.

Could this be Pognomyrmex rostratus? Spot on Blem12, you get the gold star * for this is indeed P. rastratus which can be found in Argentina's Pampas region. This game is now locked, as I will start a new game soon.
