On Easter Sunday I turned 19. one of my friends has just informed me she ordered me a messor barbarus queen as she know I like keeping ant and that my research project is based on ants . I don't really have a clue about what their housing should be like and wondering whoever reads this and keeps them to post pictures of their housing for them on here. also any useful information would be good, I scanning thought loads of information about them try to learn a bit more. I have a week or so to prepare for them LOL

On Woods journals, you will find Messors, as we have several well established colonies. The photo section and the video link on my signature helps too Timenova has a journal also. There are loads of info on Messors on this forum

If you are starting with just a queen or a very small colony, you won't need a large set up to begin with MSI; but as the colony grows larger a good sized fish tank or large Ytong nest will be necessary. When successful, it is surprising how quickly a colony of this species can grow from just a few dozen ants, into several hundred, and eventually thousands. Good luck and I hope you get a nice redheaded queen, as they are so pretty
