Next AntAnother fairly easy one to follow. I am an exotic ant which likes to nest in wood, and with a large tribe of related ant genera which live all over the world on all but the coldest continents. What ant species do you think I am? Attachments:

New ClueThis ant is basically black (chitin colour), as are many other species within the same genera, but has been named the "Golden **** Ant" due to its body hair colour. |

New AntI am an odd ant as I don't have a true queen caste, but still manage to live in a colony. My egg laying females are not the largest, but the smallest worker caste. What ant do you think I am? There is a small clue on the photo. Attachments:

amblyoponine mystrium one of the lessor known dracula ants Yes, correct. This is what Alex Wild says about this ant species found in Madagascar. "Mystrium mysticum has an unusual caste system. These unusual ants are dimorphic, with a small red caste that appears to work mostly in the brood nest and a larger, dark caste that performs most of the foraging and guarding of the nest. Interestingly, the ants that perform as reproductive queens are drawn from the smaller caste." |
