I cannot find a cheap Tetramorium colony, so it probably looks as though I'll get a Formica fusca colony. I briefly considered a Solenopsis fugax queen, but they look too advanced. Crematogaster is outside my price range or they would have been a viable option.

The queen is entirely on her own. She seems to lay eggs, but eats them soon afterwards. I have attempted to give her small things to eat, but she's not interested or too wary. I don't think she is likely to restore her colony, as she was so pampered by her workers that she no longer knows how to look after herself. A shame, as I found this species to be quite a loveable one.

The queen has finally died. She must have been incapable of looking after herself without her workers. That marks the end of this journal.
